Northport Village Corporation Facilities
The Northport Village Corporation is extremely fortunate to have so many public facilities, including numerous beaches and parks.
Beaches
Ruggles Park beach is located at the bottom of Ruggles Park, adjacent to the Wharf. A dock for swimming is attached to the main wharf, where a lifeguard is stationed during posted times.
Also available at Ruggles Park beach area: temporary kayak storage and a boat ramp for access to the water.
The Bayview Park beach is accessible in lower Bayview Park by a short wooden ramp. The beach is quiet, but a wonderful place to swim.
Northport Village Corporation Community Hall
The historic Village Community Hall houses the Village Office, historical exhibits, and a large rentable space for gatherings. During the summer, Bayside Arts organizes both musical concerts and movies. The Bayside Historical Preservation Society often organizes presentations and other events for the community. If interested in reserving the Community Hall, please contact the NVC office at [email protected] or by phone (207) 338-0751. For the rental form, please click here.
Northport Village Corporation Library
The NVC library contains books, children’s literature, DVDs and more. Bayside’s tradition of a children’s story hour typically occurs weekly in the summer. Book donations are generously accepted based on need. Gratefully, volunteers make the library and its children’s story hour a possibility. The Library’s hours change seasonally and will be posted on the bulletin board outside the entrance.
Parks
A number of parks reside within Bayside. Ruggles Park is the center of Bayside. It contains the Wharf, large grassy hill, playground, basketball court, fishing dock and swimming areas. The Northport Yacht Club is also present there. Auditorium Park and Bayview Park both have access to the water by foot paths and also have large open areas to take advantage of the views. Blaisdell Park is a small wooded park with benches for sitting. Finally, Merithew Square is an open space surrounded by quaint handmade wooden rails. You will frequently see games of kickball being played by children there. For a map of Bayside’s parks, please click here.
Wharf
Bayside’s Wharf, also known as the main dock, is located at the bottom of Ruggles Park. People enjoy many activities such as swimming off the swim float, boating, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking, and beachcombing—and simply enjoying the view. Several entities help to coordinate these various activities, and to ensure that everyone is enjoying them safely. Current rules are posted at the entrance of the wharf
